FAQ

Q: Is a ten-gallon fish tank too small to require maintenance?

A: No fish tank is too small for King’s Fish Tank & Maintenance

Q: Can saltwater fish be added to a regular fish tank?

A: The only way you can add saltwater fish is by turning your tank into a saltwater tank.

Q: Are monthly visits necessary for proper tank upkeep?

A: Ideally, it is a good idea to change the water in your tank every two weeks, however, properly cleaning the fish tank should be something that is done at least once a month.

Q: I would like to put a fish tank in my daughter’s room. Do I need a space for it near a wall outlet?

A: That depends on what type of fish tank you choose to go with. If your fish tank will have a filter, a light, etc. it will need to be plugged in to a power source. If it is a small bowl fish tank, you can place it anywhere. So long as the water and the tank are kept clean, and the fish are fed, ordinary goldfish can thrive.

Q: Can I clean and maintain my fish tank on my own?

A: Of course you can. A simple instruction manual or video clip can give you pointers to simplify cleaning it out, however, we do not recommend the use of harsh chemicals or soaps, as they can poison your fish or mess up the proper ph balance of your water, so it must be done with care.

Q: I would like to buy my elderly parents a fish tank. Will it involve a lot of maintenance on their part?

A: If you maintain the tank, or hire a company to maintain the tank on a monthly basis, and they feed the fish regularly, it will be no hassle at all for them.

Q: We are going on vacation for 2 weeks. Do we feed the fish extra before we go?
A: Never overfeed fish. Not only will it ruin the quality of the water, it can hurt the fish and the cleanliness of the tank, as well. There are automatic feeders that can be placed in the tank to feed your fish the correct amount of food on a daily basis.
Q: What do I have to be aware of before I decide on a fish tank?

A:

  • First, consider the location. It should not be placed by a window, direct sunlight or a drafty area. Also, if there are toddlers in the house, it must be a location that is completely out of their reach.
If you are considering a tank with a filter, light etc. you must also have an available, properly grounded outlet.
  • A larger tank should be close to some source of water and drain, for your ease and convenience.
  • A gallon of water weighs 8.5 pounds. According to the size of the tank you wish, make certain that the tank will be in a spot that can carry the full load of the tank, bearing in mind that fish, decorations, filters etc. also weigh some.
  • Another thing to consider is your budget. Find out all the prices for the items you need, and make sure it remains within your budget.
Q: Does Kings Fish Tank & Maintenance provide food?

A: We can provide anything our customers need for their fish tank or aquarium.

Q: Can you switch a tank from a saltwater tank to a fresh water tank, and vice versa?

A: Absolutely. Call for an estimate and what it entails.

Q: How much does a fish tank cost?

A: That is impossible to say. The price depends on the size, on the type of fish, on the decorations you would like, etc…

Q: I heard that when fish have babies, the other fish eats the babies. How can we prevent that?

A: Not all types of fish breed easily in tanks, and not all fish eat other fish, however, if you place more rocks at the bottom of your tank, you give the baby fish more places to ‘hide’ from predatory fish. Also, we can provide you with a net that is placed into your tank, to separate the babies from the fully-grown fish, so that they can thrive. This is part of our service to our customers.
